Jhalakathi, June 13 (V7N) – Leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), initiated a day-long program of tree plantation and mask distribution in Jhalakathi on Thursday.

The program, aimed at environmental protection and public awareness, commenced in the morning with tree planting activities at various key locations including Jhalakathi Government College, Mini Park, Government School, Sadar Hospital, and Technical School.

Central Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Riazul Hasan Bappi inaugurated the initiative. In his inaugural speech, Bappi emphasized the importance of increasing tree cover for environmental conservation. "We need to plant more trees to protect the environment. This is not only our responsibility, but we will inspire every person in the society to also participate in this initiative," he stated. The tree plantation drive included various species such as neem, amalaki, guava, and olive.

Among those present at the program were Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Mubinul Islam, District Chhatra Dal literary secretary Samim Ahmed, District Chhatra Dal leader Reagan, member Imtiaz, Technical College Chhatra Dal president Mridul, District Chhatra Dal leader Abir Laskar, Government College Chhatra Dal leader Nesar Uddin, and leaders from various college units.

Following the tree plantation, the Chhatra Dal leaders, led by Riazul Hasan Bappi, distributed masks to pedestrians in the city's central Chowmatha Bazar area. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about COVID-19 and promote public health.

Chhatra Dal leaders affirmed their commitment to continuing such environmentally friendly and public awareness programs regularly, citing them as a part of their social responsibility.
