Comilla, May 7 (V7N) — A Comilla court has issued arrest warrants against former Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD), Md. Tajul Islam, along with 14 others, in connection with two separate attacks that occurred in 2024. The warrants were issued on Tuesday afternoon by Senior Judicial Magistrate Farhana Sultana.
 
Advocate Kaimul Haque Rinku, representing the plaintiff, confirmed the development.
 
According to court sources, the first incident took place on the night of August 3, 2024, in front of the Bypass Market area in Noshrotpur, under the Laksam Municipality. The second attack allegedly occurred on the night of August 18 at a private residence in the same locality. Following these incidents, Md. Monir Ahmed, Joint Convenor of Laksam Municipal BNP, filed a case with the court, naming 15 individuals, including the former minister, and accusing 90 unidentified persons as well.
 
Subsequently, Laksam Police conducted an investigation and submitted their findings to the court. Upon verification of the incidents, Judge Farhana Sultana found sufficient grounds to proceed and issued arrest warrants against all 15 named accused, including former minister Tajul Islam.
 
The case is currently under judicial proceedings, and further legal actions are expected to follow.
