New Delhi, May 7 (V7N) — India’s armed forces have initiated "Operation Sindoor," targeting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement from the Indian military. The attacks, which took place on Wednesday, were focused on dismantling the infrastructure of armed groups operating in these areas.

In their statement, the Indian armed forces confirmed that "Operation Sindoor" involved precision strikes on locations identified as hubs for terrorist activities. These sites were allegedly used to plan and execute attacks against India. However, the military clarified that no Pakistani military infrastructure was targeted during these operations.

The statement also emphasized that the operation was carried out in a “focused, measured” manner, with special attention given to avoiding escalation of tensions between the two countries. The Indian military made it clear that there was no attack on any Pakistani military personnel or infrastructure, underlining that the focus remained on neutralizing terrorist infrastructure.

The attacks come after the deadly gunmen attack on April 22 in the Indian-administered Kashmir town of Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, though Pakistan has denied the allegations. Since then, both countries have engaged in a series of retaliatory actions, further complicating the already tense situation in the region.
