New York, Sep 25 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conveyed a message of global peace, democracy, human rights and inclusive development during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, said his adviser Mahdi Amin.
Mahdi Amin made the remarks at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday evening local time.
Speaking about the Prime Minister’s UN address, Mahdi Amin said Tarique Rahman discussed Bangladesh’s development plans alongside broader global issues, including international peace, the rights of the Palestinian people and the role of the United Nations in promoting peace, prosperity and unity.
He said the Prime Minister outlined government initiatives targeting children, women, young people and different sections of society. These included the Family Card, Farmer Card and e-Health Card initiatives, as well as plans for introducing a Universal Card in the future.
According to Mahdi Amin, Tarique also presented Bangladesh’s plans in areas including healthcare, education, agriculture, employment, technology and the environment.
At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening democracy, protecting human rights, upholding the rule of law and establishing a state focused on public welfare, the adviser said.
Mahdi Amin said Tarique’s more-than-20-minute address went beyond representing Bangladesh and included a broader call for global peace, human rights, the rule of law and inclusive development.
He also said that during a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Bangladesh’s multilateral diplomacy and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to global peace, mutual cooperation and stronger goodwill and harmony among nations.
Mahdi Amin added that the Prime Minister maintained a busy schedule throughout his UN visit, taking part in a series of meetings and engagements from morning until night.
