Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N)- Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury has taken oath as a permanent judge of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury administered the oath to him on Thursday morning at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge.
Earlier on Monday, President appointed Debasish Roy Chowdhury as a permanent judge of the High Court Division in consultation with the Chief Justice, in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution.
Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury was previously appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court Division on October 8, 2024.
He obtained his law degree from Britain before beginning his legal career in Bangladesh. He was enrolled as an advocate of the District Court in 2005, the High Court Division in 2007 and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in 2018.
With his appointment as a permanent judge, Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury will continue serving on the High Court Division.
He is the son of Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury.
