Dhaka, Apr 30 (V7N) — A total of 49 candidates have been elected unopposed to the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament of Bangladesh.

The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, by Returning Officer Md. Mohiuddin Khan. The official gazette is expected to be published on Thursday, confirming their appointments.

According to the Election Commission, among the elected members, 36 belong to the BNP-led alliance, 12 are from the Jamaat–NCP alliance, and one candidate was elected from an independent group of lawmakers.

The BNP alliance includes several prominent names such as Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akhter Ranu, and Nipun Roy Chowdhury, among others.

From the Jamaat–NCP alliance, those elected unopposed include Noorunnisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Sabikun Nahar, Nazmun Nahar, and Mahfuza Hannan, along with several others.

Additionally, Sultana Jesmin was elected unopposed from an independent bloc consisting of six lawmakers.

Election officials said the uncontested selection reflects political consensus within the reserved seat allocation process, and the final gazette notification will formalize their membership in parliament.
