Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N) – Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Evercare Hospital after being diagnosed with a chest infection, along with heart and lung complications, according to Professor Dr. F.M. Siddiqui, a member of the medical board overseeing her treatment.
Dr. Siddiqui provided the latest update on her condition on Sunday night (Nov 23), stating that she will remain under the board’s supervision for the next 12 hours. BNP National Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, confirmed the matter, noting that the duration of her hospital stay will depend on her recovery progress.
Earlier on Sunday evening, around 7:30 pm, Khaleda Zia was transferred from Firoza to Evercare Hospital for a series of health examinations. Her personal doctor, Al Mamun, confirmed her admission for these medical tests.
Khaleda Zia, who suffers from arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, and vision complications, returned to Bangladesh on May 6 after spending 117 days in London for advanced treatment. Since her return, she has regularly visited Evercare Hospital for routine health check-ups.
BNP Chairperson’s Press Wing noted that she participated in the Armed Forces Day event at Sena Kunj on Friday (Nov 21) evening, following the medical board’s advice.
