Lakshmipur, Oct 13 (V7N)- Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Amir Maulana Mamunul Haque has claimed that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is now facing the same political problem that once plagued former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a civic rally organized by Lakshmipur District Khelafat Majlis at Lakshmipur Town Hall on Tuesday evening.

“Those with vested interests can never accept the new leadership awakened by the youth,” Mamunul Haque said. “The ghost that has haunted the BNP is the same ghost that once haunted Sheikh Hasina.”

Calling for fundamental changes to the country’s state structure, he argued that constitutional reforms were necessary to prevent the concentration of power in the hands of the prime minister.

He warned that under the existing system, any party remaining in power for five years could eventually become another Hasina, unless the overall state structure was transformed through constitutional reform.

Mamunul Haque also criticized the BNP over the implementation of the July Charter, alleging that the party was obstructing judicial independence to serve its own interests.

He said the charter contained a clear commitment to ensuring full independence for the judiciary, but claimed that the BNP was not allowing the judiciary to function independently.

The rally was chaired by Maulana Lokman, president of Lakshmipur District Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis.

Among those who addressed the gathering were the organization's Secretary General Maulana Jalal Uddin, Shaikhul Hadith Abdul Matin Bin Hossain, and Bangladesh Khelafat Sramik Majlis Central President Maulana Tofazzal Hossain Miyaji, along with other central and local leaders.
