DHAKA, July 2, (V7N): Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed issued a stern warning against individuals and organized groups utilizing social media networks to spread propaganda and misinformation targeting Bangladesh. He emphasized that the state will maintain a zero-tolerance policy against cyber campaigns specifically designed to compromise or damage the nation's international standing.
The Minister delivered these remarks during a diplomatic courtesy meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yousef S. Y. Ramadan, at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Ahmed characterized Bangladesh as a progressive, moderate, Muslim-majority state, asserting that any online operations attempting to misrepresent its socio-political fabric or harm its global relationships would be firmly suppressed using state cyber-enforcement mechanisms.
He further assured that specialized law enforcement units are actively conducting investigations to track down and identify the actors behind these coordinated cybercrimes. Individuals found guilty of orchestrating or disseminating malicious state-targeted propaganda will face immediate legal prosecution and exemplary punishment. Beyond cybersecurity concerns, the bilateral meeting also covered regional security coordination, law and order maintenance, and new administrative measures to simplify visa processing for Palestinian students pursuing higher education inside Bangladeshi universities.
