DHAKA, June 21,  (V7N) — Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider made a courtesy call on Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon at the Secretariat today.

The two sides discussed overall education development in both countries, matters of mutual interest, and new initiatives.

During the meeting, Dr Milon said the government is working relentlessly to turn Bangladesh’s large population into skilled human resources. “To enhance these skills, special initiatives have already been taken to effectively incorporate technical and vocational education into the mainstream curriculum. There is significant scope for Bangladesh and Pakistan to work together in such skill development-oriented education sectors,” he said.

High Commissioner Haider commended the current government’s steps in the education sector. “Pakistan and Bangladesh are working together to improve the quality of education. There is considerable opportunity for exchanging experience and cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh, particularly in the field of technical and vocational education,” he noted.

He also invited a Bangladeshi delegation to visit Pakistan to see the progress of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.

At the close of the meeting, Haider presented 1,000 footballs to the minister to support sports and physical development for school and college students in Bangladesh.

Also present were Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Director General Professor Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, and Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Muhammad Wajif.
