DHAKA, June 7, (V7N) – A total of 37,435 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Saturday following the completion of this year's Hajj, which was held on May 26. A total of 89 return flights were operated by three designated carriers — 34 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 35 by Saudia Airlines, and 20 by Flynas Airlines.
According to the Hajj office, 3,328 pilgrims have returned under government management, while 34,107 returned under private travel agency arrangements. Officials expect that an additional 3,646 pilgrims will return today (Sunday) by nine flights. The return Hajj flights began on May 30 and will continue until July 1.
A total of 48 Bangladeshi pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia during Hajj — 32 males and 16 females. Of them, 35 died in Makkah, 12 in Madinah, and one in Jeddah. No deaths have been reported in Mina or Muzdalifah.
According to the Hajj bulletin, 394 pilgrims received treatment at various hospitals in Saudi Arabia, while 22 were hospitalized. Saudi Arabian medical centers provided treatment to 58,049 pilgrims, and IT help desks served 26,567 pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah.
This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on May 21. The return flights started on May 30, and the authorities continue to facilitate the remaining pilgrims' return home by July 1.
