DHAKA, June 2 (V7N) – Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday. The meeting focused on bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations.
During the discussions, the two sides exchanged views on exploring future areas of military collaboration, including training, capacity building, and professional development. They also discussed ways to enhance defence and security cooperation beyond their current level of engagement.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Australia. The importance of continuing constructive cooperation in promoting regional and global peace, stability, and security was underscored during the meeting.
The Defence Adviser and the High Commissioner expressed optimism about elevating bilateral relations to a more effective and productive level. They emphasized that future cooperation would be based on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests.
A three-member Australian delegation accompanied the High Commissioner during the visit. The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to expand mutual engagement in defence and security sectors moving forward.
