KATHMANDU, May 8 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Pavilion has emerged as the premier international attraction at the "2nd South Asian Trade Fair 2026," currently underway at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in the Nepalese capital. The massive turnout underscores Dhaka's rising export influence and its strategic push into neighboring South Asian markets.
The pavilion was formally inaugurated on Thursday by the Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, who served as the chief guest.
Institutional Support: The initiative is financially backed by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and managed under the direct supervision of the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu.
Strong Reception: The ceremony drew a significant crowd of Nepalese visitors, government officials, and business leaders, signaling a robust interest in the "Made in Bangladesh" brand.
A total of 24 Bangladeshi companies are participating in the event, showcasing a diverse portfolio of high-quality goods:
Key Sectors: Exhibits include Readymade Garments (RMG), leather goods, jute-based products, traditional handicrafts, and apparel.
Ambassador's Note: During his tour of the stalls, Ambassador Rahman remarked that such extensive participation reflects Bangladesh’s status as a regional economic force and its growing competitiveness on the global stage.
To bridge the gap between exporters and local Nepalese buyers, the fair includes several tactical business components:
Information Hub: The EPB has set up a dedicated booth within the pavilion to assist prospective investors and buyers with trade inquiries.
Strategic Events: The five-day event features B2B (Business-to-Business) meetings, consultations with trade bodies, sourcing dinners, and seminars aimed at exploring fresh commercial avenues in Nepal.
The fair is a joint venture between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and Introduction Trade Shows Nepal.
Duration: The exhibition will continue until May 11.
Timings: Open daily from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.
The participation is expected to significantly bolster the image of Bangladeshi products and pave the way for enhanced bilateral trade volume between the two neighboring nations.
