DHAKA, BANGLADESH, March 19 (V7N) — The holy Jumatul Wida, marking the final Friday of the sacred month of Ramadan, will be observed across Bangladesh tomorrow with due solemnity and religious fervour.
The largest congregation is expected at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, where thousands of Muslim devotees will gather for Juma prayers. Similar congregations will be held in mosques nationwide, with worshippers participating in special prayers and religious observances.
Khateebs and Ulema are set to deliver sermons emphasizing the spiritual significance of Jumatul Wida, highlighting themes of piety, unity, and reflection. Special prayers will also be offered across the country, seeking peace, progress, and prosperity for the nation and the global Muslim Ummah.
Meanwhile, the government has officially announced that the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Saturday, as the moon of Shawwal was not sighted on Thursday evening.
Religious Affairs Adviser and National Moon Sighting Committee President Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain confirmed the decision following a meeting of the committee.
“The moon of Holy Shawwal month of 1447 Hijri was not sighted in the sky of the country today. The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday,” he told reporters after the meeting.
The session of the National Moon Sighting Committee was held at the Islamic Foundation office within the Baitul Mukarram complex, with officials reviewing moon sighting reports from across the country.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, marks the end of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection during Ramadan.
As the country prepares for the celebrations, Jumatul Wida serves as a moment of spiritual culmination, bringing millions of worshippers together in prayer ahead of Eid festivities.
