RANGAMATI, Aug 21 (V7N) — Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has provided financial and humanitarian assistance to 14 disadvantaged families and a Hifzkhana and orphanage in the remote Chhoto Harina area of Rangamati.

The assistance, worth Tk 70,300 in total, was distributed on Thursday under the Harmony and Development Programme of the Harina Zone.

Harina Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Engineers, handed over the assistance to the beneficiaries at a programme organised by the zone.

The support included financial assistance for food for students of Faruk-e-Azam (RA) Hifzkhana and Orphanage in Bhushanchhara Union. Assistance was also provided for house repairs, medical treatment and children’s education.

In addition, two sewing machines with stands and a solar panel were distributed among the beneficiaries. The recipients included 11 Bengali and three indigenous families.

Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said BGB considers serving people and supporting their welfare alongside protecting the country’s borders as part of its responsibility.

He said the Harina Zone regularly supports disadvantaged people living in remote, hilly and river-surrounded areas.

The Harina Zone said various humanitarian and development initiatives would continue to improve the living conditions of local communities while strengthening border security.
