Bagerhat, May 4  (V7N) – The Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant, located in Rampal, has achieved a significant milestone by setting a national record in power generation. The Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) reported that the plant generated 760 million units of electricity in April, contributing more than 9 percent of the total power produced in the country.

BIFPCL Deputy General Manager Anwarul Azim shared this achievement with BSS, highlighting the plant's pivotal role in meeting the country's energy needs. BIFPCL Managing Director Ramanath Pujari attributed the success to the plant's near-full capacity operation during peak demand, praising the robust design and the collective efforts of the plant's team. "This achievement is a unique example of our rigorous management approach and successful cooperation between Bangladesh and India," Pujari remarked.

The plant is operated by a skilled team of Bangladeshi engineers who received training under the supervision of experts from India's National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). While NTPC continues to provide advisory support, the day-to-day management by local engineers marks a significant step in Bangladesh's journey toward enhancing its technical capacity in the energy sector.
