Teknaf, Nov 23 (V7N) – A joint operation by police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the hills of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, failed to rescue a kidnapping victim despite targeting multiple criminal hideouts. The operation took place from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday in the western hilly areas of Leda and Nayapara Rohingya camps in Hnila Union.

During the raid, drones and other modern technologies were used to identify several criminal shelters, which were subsequently set on fire and destroyed. However, the abducted individual, Nurul Islam (50), and any suspects could not be recovered.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zayed Md. Nazmun Noor stated that an armed group, composed of local criminals and some Rohingya residents, has long been involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and kidnappings in the area. He confirmed that efforts to rescue the victim and dismantle the criminal network will continue through ongoing joint operations.

Local authorities have increased vigilance in the region following a series of recent abductions in the remote hilly terrain, and security forces are committed to restoring safety in the area.
