Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N)- Retired Major Akhtaruzzaman, who was arrested over allegations of creating a disturbance and assaulting an on-duty security officer at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, has sought bail.
A hearing on his bail application is scheduled to take place at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 26, according to the information provided.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Shishir Monir is expected to represent Akhtaruzzaman during the hearing.
The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the retired army officer on October 2 from his residence in the Dhaka Cantonment area’s DOHS neighbourhood. He was subsequently placed on a one-day remand for questioning.
Akhtaruzzaman remains in jail following the remand.
The case includes allegations of obstructing government work, assault, using criminal force, intentional insult and intimidation in connection with the reported incident at the airport.
The allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings.
