Dhaka, Aug 08 (V7N) – The Run for Fair City marathon was held in the capital on Friday morning, aiming to promote the vision of a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly Dhaka.
The seven-and-a-half-kilometer race began at the Department of Environment in Agargaon, jointly organized by environmental group Brighters and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
A total of 500 participants took part in the event. Ashraful Alam claimed first place, completing the race in 25 minutes 30 seconds, while Palash Sheikh and Md. Waliullah secured second and third place respectively.
Participants emphasized the health benefits of running, noting that regular exercise is key to building physical fitness, preventing disease, and reducing hospital visits.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz urged residents to play an active role in creating a “city of fairness.” He stressed the importance of collective effort in keeping the environment clean and fostering civic responsibility.
