Dhaka, Jul 17(V7N)-  The US dollar strengthened against the Bangladeshi taka this week, while most other major foreign currencies recorded declines, according to the latest exchange rates released by NCC Bank.

The US dollar gained 45 paisa over the week and was traded at Tk 123.75.

The British pound sterling reached its highest rate of Tk 169.16 on Thursday, while its lowest rate during the week was Tk 166.97 on Sunday.

The euro also experienced a slight decline. It was traded at a weekly high of Tk 143.31 on Wednesday and a low of Tk 142.39 during the week.

The Australian dollar weakened as well, with its highest exchange rate recorded at Tk 86.65 on Sunday and its lowest at Tk 85.73.

The Malaysian ringgit remained below the Tk 30 mark throughout the week.

The Singapore dollar was traded between Tk 96.12 and Tk 96.54, with the highest rate recorded on Wednesday and the lowest on Thursday.

The Saudi riyal remained largely stable during the week, trading at around Tk 32.

Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar also declined. Its highest exchange rate was Tk 88.10 on Monday, while the week's lowest rate stood at Tk 87.39 on Sunday.

The Indian rupee was traded at a highest rate of Tk 1.30 during the week.
