DHAKA, Sep 1, (V7N) - Eight passengers were seriously injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj yesterday.

The injured were identified as Md Saifullah (80), Md Lutfar (63), Rebeka Khatun (40), Nur Islam (46), Rashida (40), Fatema (7), Saif (23), and Arafat (13).

The accident took place around noon today at the Mawa end of the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, on the ramp of the Padma Bridge.

According to Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, the passenger bus of New Green Line Express, travelling from Magura to Dhaka on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, lost control due to high speed, hit the road railing and overturned on the road.

On receiving the information, two rescue teams from the Sreenagar Fire Station reached the spot, rescued the injured passengers and sent them to Sreenagar Health Complex.

Mohammad Akter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Padma Bridge North Police Station, said the accident occurred when the bus lost control and overturned while descending from the bridge.

The injured were taken to Sreenagar Health Complex.
