Ukhiya, Aug 26 (V7N) - A motorcyclist was killed and another person was seriously injured after a private car hit their motorcycle on the Marine Drive road in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (Aug 25).
The accident occurred around noon near Madarbunia Boat Ghat in Jaliapalong Union. Locals rescued the injured and took him to a hospital for treatment.
The deceased was identified as Md Javed, 21, son of Shamsul Islam of Keranihat area in Keochia Union of Satkania upazila, Chattogram.
The injured motorcyclist, identified as Tanvir, is currently receiving treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, according to Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atikur Rahman.
Police and local sources said Javed and several friends had travelled from Satkania to Cox’s Bazar for a visit. They were riding towards Teknaf on motorcycles around noon when a private car, bearing Dhaka Metro-GA 13-6450 registration, hit an unregistered motorcycle near Madarbunia Boat Ghat.
Javed sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. Tanvir, the other rider, was also seriously injured.
After being informed, police from Ukhiya Police Station went to the scene and seized the two vehicles involved in the accident.
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atikur Rahman said the body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
