Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N)- Devotees of the Hindu faith celebrated Kojagari Lakshmi Puja in Old Dhaka on Sunday, worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, who is traditionally associated with wealth, happiness, peace and prosperity.
Alongside temples, many families observed the puja at home, creating a festive atmosphere with religious rituals, decorative arrangements and the lighting of lamps.
Lakshmi Puja is traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashwin, following the autumn Durga Puja. The occasion is known as Kojagari Purnima, giving the festival its name, Kojagari Lakshmi Puja.
In many households in Old Dhaka, the celebration is an important part of family tradition and religious observance. Devotees worship the goddess by placing an idol or picture of Lakshmi and offering flowers, fruits, sweets and other customary items.
Following the rituals, prasad is distributed among family members and other devotees.
According to Hindu belief, Goddess Lakshmi brings happiness, peace and prosperity. Through the puja, worshippers pray for their families’ well-being, financial stability and continued prosperity.
