Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N)- Fuel supply disruptions have led to long queues at filling stations across the capital, with many pumps running out of stock, causing widespread inconvenience for motorists.
Since Tuesday morning, large numbers of customers have been দেখা lining up at various fuel stations. However, in many cases, they are returning empty-handed as pumps display “No Fuel” signs. Authorities at several stations said they are unable to specify when fresh supplies will arrive from depots.
The situation has become particularly difficult for drivers who, after failing to refuel at one station, travel to others and eventually run out of fuel on the road.
Amid uncertainty, a trend of panic buying has emerged, with many consumers attempting to stock up on extra fuel, fearing a prolonged crisis. This behavior has further increased pressure on already limited supplies and lengthened queues at stations.
According to pump authorities, the current shortage is largely due to temporary disruptions during the Eid holiday, when banks and depots remained closed, causing complications in payments and supply chains.
Although banking operations have now resumed, officials say the sudden surge in demand has become the primary challenge in restoring normal supply.
Industry insiders expect the situation to stabilize once regular supply from depots resumes and demand pressure eases.
