Dhaka, Mar 13 (V7N) — Turkey has expressed its support for Bangladesh in securing the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The support was conveyed when Turkish Ambassador to Dhaka Ramis Sen paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir on Thursday (March 12). The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office, Dhaka.

According to a press release issued after the meeting, the two sides held fruitful discussions on the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye, as well as various issues of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in several key sectors, including trade and investment, defense collaboration, education, cultural exchange, technology, and infrastructure development.

Regional and global issues were also discussed, particularly addressing various challenges facing the Muslim world, strengthening humanitarian cooperation, and enhancing mutual support on international platforms.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the welfare of the people of the two countries, based on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
