Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N)- Punjabi continues to be the most popular attire for men during Eid and other festive occasions throughout the year. Beyond Eid prayers, it is widely preferred for invitations, gatherings, and casual outings due to its comfort and traditional appeal.
In the past, white or off-white Punjabi dominated Eid fashion. However, trends have evolved significantly, bringing diversity in colors, patterns, and craftsmanship every year. Designers and brands are now experimenting with vibrant shades, subtle pastels, intricate embroidery, and modern cuts to attract buyers.
Comfort takes priority in summer Eid
With this year’s Eid falling during the summer heat, demand is especially high for Punjabis made from breathable and comfortable fabrics such as cotton, linen, and blended materials. Buyers are prioritizing comfort alongside style, leading to strong interest in lightweight designs suitable for long festive days.
Wide price range in the market
Punjabis in this year’s Eid market are available in a broad price range, starting from around Tk 500 and going up to Tk 10,000, depending on fabric quality, brand value, and design detailing. While some buyers feel prices are slightly high, many say the variety allows options for every budget.
Rising demand for local products
Shopkeepers report that locally produced Punjabis are gaining popularity, reflecting growing consumer interest in domestic craftsmanship. Sellers also claim that prices have not increased significantly compared to last year, despite production costs.
Although sales were relatively slow during the first week of Ramadan, shopping activity has picked up steadily as Eid approaches. Traders remain optimistic, expecting overall sales to surpass last year’s figures as last-minute buyers flock to markets.
