Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N)- Three officials of Bangladesh Bank have been summoned to explain their remarks calling Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur “arbitrary” during a press conference on February 16.

The officials — Naushad Mostafa, General Secretary of the Blue Party and Director of the SME and Special Programs Department; AKM Masum Billah, President of the Bangladesh Bank Officers Welfare Council; and Golam Mostafa Shrawan, General Secretary — have been asked to respond within 10 days, according to Arif Hossain Khan, the bank’s spokesperson.

Possible Disciplinary Action

Arif Hossain Khan told reporters at a regular press briefing Tuesday that disciplinary measures will be taken if the officials’ explanations are not satisfactory.

The controversy arose after the three officials publicly criticized the governor on issues including the proposed merger of Exim Bank and Social Islami Bank, as well as the process for granting digital bank licenses.

Outlook:
The bank is expected to closely monitor the situation, as disciplinary action against senior officials could have implications for internal governance and staff relations within Bangladesh Bank.
