Dhaka, July 03 (V7N) — The eighth day of the second phase of discussions between political parties and the National Consensus Commission began this morning at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. The dialogue aims to build national consensus on key reform issues.
At the briefing that marked the start of today’s session, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, informed that around 20 important issues still remain unresolved and require further discussion.
“We have had preliminary discussions on many matters, and those that have not yet reached a decision are now the focus,” said Dr. Riaz. He added, “We are proceeding by giving each party an opportunity to share their views individually. Our goal is to conclude the day with positive outcomes.”
Dr. Riaz urged participants to remain mindful of the circumstances that led to the current political process. “The situation we have come through should inspire us to make progress. This opportunity for dialogue is valuable and should not be wasted,” he said, expressing hope that consensus could be achieved.
The National Consensus Commission continues its efforts to finalize a reform charter by July, although progress has been slow, with consensus reached on only a few points so far.
