DINAJPUR, May 08 (V7N)- Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury pledged on Thursday to resign from his position if he fails to bring to justice those who aided former President Abdul Hamid's departure from the country.

He made this declaration in response to questions from students involved in the July Uprising as he was leaving the conference room of the Dinajpur deputy commissioner following a meeting on law and order.

Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury warned of stringent measures, asserting that anyone who facilitated the former president’s departure would face consequences. "Of course, action will be taken. No one will be spared under any circumstances. Those involved in it must be punished," he stated.

When questioned about the consequences if such actions were not taken, the adviser replied that he would resign.

Former President Hamid left Bangladesh for Thailand through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Thursday morning.

Earlier in the day, the adviser inaugurated paddy harvesting in Biral upazila, where he reassured farmers not to be alarmed about the border situation amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.

Agriculture Secretary Emdad Ullah Mian, Director General of Barind Zone Mozaffar Hossain, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain, and other relevant officials were present at the event.
