Jhalokathi, Oct 6 (V7N) – A high-speed passenger bus collided with a motorcycle in the Protap area of Bhairabpasha Union under Nalchity upazila of Jhalokathi on Monday afternoon, causing both vehicles to catch fire and leaving one person critically injured.

According to police and local sources, a Dhaka-bound Sakura Paribahan bus was traveling along the Jhalokathi–Barishal regional highway when it hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The rider, identified as Md. Tofazzal Hossain, headmaster of Nathullabad Secondary School in Jhalokathi Sadar, sustained serious injuries in the collision.

The impact of the crash caused both the bus and the motorcycle to burst into flames. On receiving information, a team from Nalchity Police Station and the Jhalokathi Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after an effort lasting several minutes.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam of Nalchity Police Station said that the injured victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. “Both vehicles have been seized, and traffic on the highway has returned to normal. Further legal procedures are underway,” he added.
