Dhaka, Oct 7 (V7N) – State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today said the government is working to transform Bangladesh into a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, with the country's youth expected to play a leading role in the economic transformation.
He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Inter-University Moot Court Competition 2026 at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). The third UMSAILS-UAP Moot Court Competition was jointly organised by the UAP Department of Law and Human Rights and the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies.
Bobby Hajjaj said the government is focusing on high technology, innovation, foreign investment, skilled human resources and a knowledge-based economy to achieve the target. He said discussions are underway with leading global technology companies on investment and cooperation opportunities, urging young people to prepare themselves in technology, research, professional skills and leadership. "You are the future of the country. Prepare yourselves now to take responsibility," he told the students.
He stressed that academic degrees alone are not enough, saying practical experience and adaptability will be essential for future leadership.
Highlighting ethics in the legal profession, he said artificial intelligence and digital technology are rapidly changing legal research and professional work. Technology can ease workloads, he said, but cannot replace human judgment, analysis, integrity, ethics and responsibility. Addressing the participants, the state minister said that the main objective of the competition is not winning or losing but giving their best and gaining experience.
Chairman of the UAP Board of Trustees K M Mujibul Haque and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abu Sayeed Mostaque Ahmed also addressed the event. Teachers and students from law departments of 16 universities participated in the competition.
