Tehran, Jun 23 (V7N)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Baqer Ghalibaf has stated that the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz would be “managed by Iran,” following his return to Tehran after preliminary talks with the United States in Switzerland.
Speaking after the discussions, Ghalibaf said there is hope that normal flow through the Strait could be restored to support regional and global economic stability. He added that broader issues, including the release of Iran’s frozen assets and the resumption of oil sales, were also part of the ongoing negotiation agenda with the United States.
His remarks come at a sensitive time for regional geopolitics, with analysts warning that renewed emphasis on control over the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes—could significantly influence global diplomatic and economic dynamics.
Meanwhile, as part of what officials describe as early progress in bilateral talks held in Switzerland, the United States Department of the Treasury has reportedly issued a 60-day general license temporarily easing sanctions on Iran’s crude oil and petrochemical exports.
The move is seen as a limited but notable step allowing Iran to re-engage with global energy markets while negotiations continue. Authorities from both sides have not yet confirmed whether the measure will be extended beyond the stated period.
