BRUSSELS, June 18  (V7N) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on European allies to accelerate military aid, particularly anti-ballistic missile systems, as Russia intensifies constant missile attacks.

Speaking at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Zelensky said, “We have the tools, and they are strong enough to put Russia on a path where diplomacy becomes the only choice.” He stressed that Ukraine urgently needs Patriot air defence missiles, unmanned ground vehicles, and long-range artillery.

The appeal follows his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the G7, where Washington pledged to increase pressure on Moscow. Zelensky urged European nations to speed up purchases of US weaponry under a joint procurement programme, noting that timing is critical.

Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden have already signaled willingness to contribute to two new US arms packages worth $1 billion. Pentagon official Elbridge Colby emphasized that NATO allies must continue — and increase — support to ensure vital equipment reaches Ukraine’s front lines.

British Defence Minister Dan Jarvis echoed the urgency, saying, “We now have a limited window of opportunity. Ukraine’s forces are fighting with incredible determination and momentum. They are counting on us to help keep them going. We cannot and will not let them down.”

The Brussels meeting underscored a united push among Ukraine’s backers to strengthen Kyiv’s defences and maintain battlefield momentum against Russia.
