Tehran, Jun 13 (V7N) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States could be signed within the next few days.

He made the remarks during an interview with Iranian state television on Friday (June 13).

“The possibility of reaching an agreement with the United States has never been so close before,” Araghchi said. “Once the memorandum of understanding is finalized, both sides will digitally sign it from their respective countries. The agreement will then be officially announced.”

According to the Iranian foreign minister, the proposed memorandum includes a commitment to halt hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. He said no formal nuclear negotiations would begin unless an interim agreement is first implemented.

Araghchi further stated that following the signing of the proposed agreement, both countries would pledge not to initiate any new military conflict. A second phase of negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive and final agreement would then begin within 60 days.

Tensions between Iran and the United States have resurfaced despite a ceasefire that came into effect on April 8. Last Thursday night, Donald Trump warned of a possible major military strike against Iran. However, shortly afterward, he announced that the planned attack had been called off, citing progress toward an agreement between the two countries.

Since then, discussions surrounding a possible memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran have moved to the forefront of international attention.
