Washington, May 6 (V7N) — U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Iran is now showing interest in reaching a deal, claiming that ongoing pressure has significantly weakened its position in the Middle East.

Speaking on the current geopolitical situation, Trump asserted that Iran is struggling to sustain itself under mounting pressure and that the United States maintains “complete control” over the situation. He argued that without the threat of war, Iran could have expanded its influence across the region.

The U.S. president also highlighted the effectiveness of naval measures in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the ongoing blockade as “strong as steel” and claiming that no side is in a position to challenge it.

Referring to a recent attack on a South Korean vessel, Trump said the ship was not under the protection of U.S. security forces and was targeted while traveling independently.

Commenting further on diplomatic contacts, Trump claimed that Iran communicates with him respectfully in private but later denies such interactions publicly. He reiterated that Tehran is ultimately seeking an agreement, adding that any country facing severe military setbacks would be inclined toward negotiation.

His remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, with global concerns growing over maritime security and the potential for further escalation. The statements were reported by Al Jazeera.
