Islamabad, May 02 (V7N)- Pakistan has opened its land trade route for Iran, which is currently facing conflict-related pressure from Israel and the United States as well as disruptions in its seaports, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
Under the new arrangement, Iranian goods will be transported and transited through Pakistani territory, a move being viewed as significant relief for Iran’s struggling wartime economy.
Analysts say the decision could help maintain limited trade flows despite ongoing regional instability and economic restrictions on Iran. However, it has also raised questions about whether the move could weaken US efforts to economically pressure Tehran.
The development comes as diplomatic efforts continue in Islamabad to mediate tensions and explore potential pathways toward de-escalation in the broader Iran-related conflict involving Israel and the United States.
Experts note that the regional economy has been heavily disrupted by the ongoing instability, and Pakistan’s decision may play a key role in sustaining essential trade links.
At the same time, observers are closely watching whether Pakistan—traditionally considered a US partner—may face diplomatic pressure from Washington over its decision, potentially adding new strain to Islamabad–Washington relations.
