PABNA, Aug 02 (V7N) — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir held a mass procession and rally in Pabna city on Saturday, pressing several demands, including the implementation of the July Charter and referendum decisions.
The procession began from the Chapa Mosque area in Pabna town at around 5:30pm, organised by the Pabna Sadar and municipal units of Jamaat-e-Islami. The march passed through major city roads before ending at Shaheed Chattar, where a brief rally was held.
Jamaat leaders at the rally demanded action to address deteriorating law and order, rising prices of essential commodities, and increases in the costs of fuel, gas and electricity.
Speakers, including Jamaat Central Working Committee member Professor Nazrul Islam Khan and other district-level leaders, alleged that the government had failed to implement the July Charter and the outcome of the referendum.
They said political parties had signed the charter for structural reforms of the state, and urged the authorities to respect those commitments.
The rally was attended by leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir from different areas of Pabna.
