Tehran, May 01 (V7N) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the United States could launch another attack on Iran even while ceasefire negotiations are ongoing, saying trust in Washington has been “completely destroyed.”

He made the remarks during a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday, according to Anadolu Agency and Iran’s state-run Press TV.

Pezeshkian stated that Iran has always prioritized diplomacy and dialogue, but accused the United States and Israel of previously attacking Iran during negotiation periods. He claimed there is still a risk of renewed strikes and said Iran can no longer rely on the United States.

Rising Regional Tensions

The statement comes amid continued instability following earlier conflict developments involving Iran and regional powers. Tensions in the Gulf have already impacted global energy markets, particularly through concerns over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for international oil transport.

Ceasefire Developments

Reports indicate that a ceasefire was declared on April 8 with mediation from Pakistan, though subsequent talks held in Islamabad on April 11 reportedly failed to produce a final agreement. Later, US President Donald Trump is said to have extended the ceasefire unilaterally without announcing a clear deadline.

Ongoing Uncertainty

Despite diplomatic efforts, both sides continue to exchange warnings, with Iran expressing deep skepticism over US intentions and maintaining heightened military readiness. Analysts say the situation remains fragile, with the potential for renewed escalation still present.
