Tehran, Apr 18 (V7N) — Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that the Strait of Hormuz “will not remain open” if the United States continues its blockade measures.
Ghalibaf, who led Iran’s delegation in recent talks, said decisions regarding the operation of the vital shipping route would be determined “on the battlefield, not by any social media posts.” He added that maritime passage through the Strait could be restricted to designated routes and would require approval from Iran’s forces.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had agreed to hand over its enriched uranium to Washington. However, Tehran has firmly rejected the assertion.
Iranian officials said no such commitment had been made. Speaking to Al Jazeera, National Security Committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei stated that Iran had not promised to transfer uranium to any country.
The latest exchange highlights growing tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly over control of key energy routes and the future of Iran’s nuclear program.
