Tehran, Apr 18 (V7N) — Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly rejected recent comments by US President Donald Trump regarding talks with Iran, describing them as “lies.”

In a post on social media platform X, cited by Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf said Trump made “seven claims in one hour, and all seven were false.” He added that such statements failed to secure victory during the conflict and would not yield results in negotiations either.

Ghalibaf further warned that if the ongoing blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz may not remain fully open. He indicated that maritime traffic could be restricted to designated routes and subject to Iran’s permission.

He emphasized that decisions regarding the operation of the Strait would not be influenced by social media narratives but would depend on real-world developments and conditions.

The Iranian speaker also highlighted the role of “media warfare” in shaping public opinion during the ongoing tensions, asserting that such efforts would not affect the Iranian peoples.

He advised those seeking accurate information about the recent negotiations to follow official statements, particularly interviews by Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

It is worth noting that Ghalibaf led the Iranian delegation in the recent mediated talks held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
