Sharm El-Sheikh, Oct 14 (V7N) – U.S. President Donald Trump and several global leaders have signed the official ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, marking a major diplomatic milestone in the Middle East peace process.
The signing took place on Tuesday in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh during an international peace conference. Following his inaugural speech, President Trump was the first to sign the document, which was then endorsed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, among other world leaders.
After signing the agreement, President Trump said, “This ceasefire will hold,” emphasizing his confidence in the durability of the accord. However, no immediate details were disclosed regarding the full contents of the signed document.
The development follows last Friday’s signing of a 20-point ceasefire framework, proposed by President Trump, which both Israel and Hamas accepted after months of negotiations.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hamas has already handed over 20 Israeli hostages alive, along with the bodies of several deceased captives. In response, Israel has released approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners as part of the mutual peace gesture.
The ceasefire marks a potential turning point after more than two years of intense conflict in Gaza, raising hopes for lasting stability and humanitarian recovery across the war-torn region.
