Rostov, Aug 23 (V7N) – Children aged 8 to 17 are participating in military training exercises near the Ukrainian border in the Rostov region. The program includes route marches, weapon handling, and other military techniques, conducted under the supervision of Russian soldiers injured in the ongoing Ukraine war. Officials say the initiative aims to instill confidence, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility in children from an early age.
The young participants, some in army uniforms and others in civilian clothes, were seen marching, practicing combat drills with toy guns and rifles, and performing physical exercises in rivers and on the training grounds. Despite rigorous schedules, their determination and patriotic spirit were evident.
“I want to join the army in the future. That is why I am participating in this training. I want to serve my country for life,” said one participant. Parents reported that while their children are exhausted by the evening, they remain enthusiastic and committed.
The training is led by Russian soldiers who were wounded in Ukraine, many of whom have enrolled their own children in the program. Alexander Chopin, a member of the Russian Marine Brigade, said, “My daughter has participated here and is very happy. I am glad to share my experience with the children. Through teamwork, they will grow into responsible citizens.”
While the program has faced criticism from child rights organizations, officials maintain that it strengthens physical and intellectual capabilities and fosters a deep sense of national duty among participants.
