Tehran, June 17 (V7N) — Three employees of Iran’s state television broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the network’s headquarters in Tehran, Iranian officials confirmed. The attack took place on Monday (June 16), with the news officially announced a day later by IRIB. Al Jazeera also reported the incident.

The live broadcast showed dramatic footage of the moment a missile, fired from an Israeli warplane, struck the building. Panic erupted inside the office, and the on-air presenter abruptly fled the studio as alarms blared throughout the premises. Several others were injured in the attack, though exact figures have yet to be confirmed.

Reacting strongly to the incident, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakai condemned the strike as "heinous" and labeled it a war crime. “Israel has once again proven that it is the number one killer of journalists and media workers,” Bakai stated.

The attack comes amid escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel, following a series of retaliatory strikes by both nations over recent days. Iran has vowed to respond to what it describes as deliberate targeting of civilian and media infrastructure.
