Dhaka, June 15 (V7N) — Iran has launched a series of missile attacks targeting key installations across Israel, including the capital Tel Aviv, in a dramatic escalation of the ongoing conflict between the two countries. The overnight strikes have left 12 people dead and more than 200 injured, according to preliminary reports.
The attacks began on Saturday night (June 14), with Iranian ballistic missiles raining down on Israeli territory at rapid intervals. The strikes caused panic among Israeli civilians, with air raid sirens blaring throughout the night.
Haifa witnessed the most severe damage, where a missile strike ignited a massive fire at a fuel station in Tamra, located east of the city. Iranian sources claim that much of Haifa’s fuel storage infrastructure was destroyed, with three fatalities reported in a nearby residential area.
The attacks primarily targeted fuel stations, airports, and military installations. Despite prior warnings from Tehran, Israeli air defense systems failed to intercept many of the incoming ballistic missiles, leading to significant damage and civilian casualties.
The Iranian offensive came as retaliation for Israel’s earlier missile strike on Iran’s largest gas field in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran. That Israeli attack caused extensive damage to the Shahran oil storage center, a critical supplier of fuel to Tehran, as well as targeting facilities belonging to the Iranian Defense Ministry.
In response to Iran’s overnight barrage, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning: “We have found a way to reach Tehran. We will destroy every building and structure of the Ayatollah administration. Iran’s goal is to build 20,000 missiles and nuclear weapons, but we will not allow that to happen.”
As tensions between the two nations reach a boiling point, the prospect of further escalation remains dangerously high.
