Nov 03, V7N- In a recent incident in the northern Lebanese town of Batroun, an Israeli naval force reportedly conducted a special operation early Friday, capturing an individual identified as Imad Amhaz. According to a Lebanese security source, the operation involved Israeli forces landing in the coastal resort area and seizing Amhaz before leaving by speedboat. Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Najib Mikati, have called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that security forces were examining the situation, while a statement from Mikati's office confirmed that he had consulted with Lebanese military and UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) officials. The Prime Minister also urged Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib to file an urgent complaint with the UN Security Council over the incident.
An Israeli military official stated that the apprehended individual was a senior Hezbollah operative, known for his expertise in a specific field, and has since been transferred to Israeli territory for interrogation. Pro-Hezbollah journalist Hassan Illaik posted CCTV footage on social media platform X, which appears to show Israeli soldiers escorting a person on a street. Lebanese Transport Minister Ali Hamiye, a Hezbollah representative in the Lebanese government, acknowledged the authenticity of the footage but withheld additional information.
This incident adds tension to the already strained relations between Israel and Lebanon, with Hezbollah’s involvement and the call for a UN Security Council complaint likely to draw international attention.
