July 31 (V7N) - Newly-appointed Bangladesh national hockey team head coach Peter Gerhard arrived in Dhaka early Friday to officially take charge of the side. The German tactician was greeted with a warm reception by Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Gerhard, an experienced coach, has been brought in to elevate the standard of Bangladesh hockey and improve the team's competitiveness in international competitions. He is expected to join the ongoing Asian Games training camp immediately.

In a brief statement upon arrival, Gerhard expressed optimism about the squad's potential. "In my opinion, the team is much better than the results they achieved in recent tournaments. We have to improve the current situation, and that is exactly what we'll work on," he said.

He also cautioned that the road ahead would be demanding. "The players will have to go through a very tough period over the coming weeks and work extremely hard. But in the end, they will enjoy the rewards of that hard work," he added.

Gerhard, who has previously served as Bangladesh's head coach on multiple occasions, also extended his best wishes to the federation's new leadership.
