July 31 (V7N) - FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh secured fourth place in the Rudar XXXIV Grandmaster Round-Robin Chess Tournament, held in Serbia.
Tahsin finished with 5.5 points from nine games. Although he was tied for third place, he ended up fourth after the tie-break system was applied.
In the final round on Thursday, Tahsin defeated Serbian GM Mikhail Bryakin. He had also won his previous match, beating FIDE Master Artem Postnikov of Serbia in the eighth round.
The tournament was won by Indian IM Sathvik Adiga, who topped the standings with 6.5 points.
The event featured 10 players, including three grandmasters, two international masters, and five FIDE masters, representing countries such as Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, India, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine. The competition followed a round-robin format.
