Dhaka, June 14 (V7N) – The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) in Bangladesh has successfully resolved a significant 148,227 cases across the country through its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system. These cases were settled between 2009 and April 2025, according to official data from the organization's website.
The ADR service, which facilitates case settlements outside of traditional court proceedings to mutually benefit both parties, was initially launched at the district level in 2009. It has since expanded its reach to include the Supreme Court, the divisional headquarters of Dhaka and Chattogram, and all prisons nationwide. Additionally, NLASO provides assistance through a dedicated toll-free number.
According to NLASO statistics, a total of 164,482 cases were submitted for arbitration. Of these, 148,227 cases have been successfully disposed of. District Legal Aid Officers accounted for the settlement of 146,314 cases, while 1,913 cases were resolved through the laborers' assistance cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. These efforts have directly benefited 283,405 individuals.
Overall, a remarkable 1,207,993 people across Bangladesh have received free legal services from NLASO between 2009 and April 2025. These services are delivered through the 64 District Legal Aid Offices, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, the Labourer Assistance Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and the toll-free call center at 16430.
The National Legal Aid Services Organization operates under the direct supervision of the Law and Justice Division of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, ensuring that free legal aid is accessible to the poor and marginalized populations throughout the country.
