Savar, Sept 11 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) staged a protest rally at Jahangirnagar University campus on Thursday night after boycotting the central student union (JUCSU) polls, citing widespread irregularities.

Eyewitnesses said the march began around 9:15 p.m. in front of the new arts building and moved through the JUCSU Election Commission office before ending at the university transport yard. Participants chanted slogans such as “Boycott JUCSU” and “Reject the farcical election.”

Earlier in the day, four progressive student panels also announced a boycott of both the central and hall union polls, alleging mismanagement, bias, and inaction by the Election Commission. Speaking on behalf of the panels, GS candidate Shoron Ehsan of the Sampriti Oikya panel said the election process had lost credibility due to irregularities, including ballot stuffing, exclusion of candidates’ agents, absence of voter photos on lists, lack of indelible ink, excess ballots, and alleged physical assaults inside polling centers.

The boycotting panels demanded the annulment of the results and called for fresh elections under a free, fair, and credible process.
