Bandarban, Sept 11 (V7N) – Authorities in Bandarban arrested a woman with more than 1,10,000 yaba tablets during an anti-narcotics raid in Ghumdhum union of Naikhyangchhari upazila on Wednesday evening.
 
The Directorate of Narcotics Control (DNC) said in a press release on Thursday that the operation was carried out at around 7 p.m. in Paschimpara area of Ghumdhum. The detainee was identified as Fatema Khatun, 38, a resident of the same area.
 
Officials recovered 1,10,200 yaba tablets, Tk 43,500 in cash, and a button mobile phone from her possession. According to investigators, the drugs were hidden inside her under-construction six-room building. The raid uncovered 1,10,000 pills packed in a synthetic plastic bag wrapped with tissue and scotch tape from a steel wardrobe drawer in her bedroom, and an additional 200 pills hidden under a mattress in the same room.
 
The operation was led by Bandarban DNC Assistant Director Md. Sirajul Mostafa, with support from a joint team of Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar district narcotics offices.
